My baby is sleeping in cloth.

Kaia looks quite surprised to be going to bed wearing a cloth diaper. Honestly, I am surprised as well.
Before having a baby, I was seriously grossed out by the concept of cloth diapers. I just could not wrap my mind around putting a poopy diaper in a pail and then throwing it in my clean washing machine. Apparently my e-friends who cloth diapered from the get-go are a lot more mature than me. I truly do not think I ever could have made the decision to move toward cloth until I experienced disposable diapers in all of their crappy glory.
Here's the deal. We have a blow-out EVERY.SINGLE.TIME Kaia poops. Today I got to experience the joy of wrestling with a sobbing naked baby on the Bloomingdale's changing table because she had an enormous blow-out at the mall. The worst part? The poop wasn't even that big. Disposable diapers just, well, blow. I think it has something to do with Kaia's body type- she has a wide belly, and any given size of diapers only fit her for about 2 weeks- otherwise they are too big or too small. Regardless, my hope of not having to deal with poop is completely dashed with disposables- I end up soaking, rinsing, and washing something covered in poop every single day. I've finally realized that it makes a lot more sense to wash something that was meant to be pooped in, instead of her sweet little baby clothes.
The decision has just as much to do with the lack of poop. 95% of the diapers I change daily are colorless, odorless pee diapers. There is absolutely no reason why pee needs to be thrown in a landfill. I'm not the greenest person on the planet, but even I realize that this practice is absolute silliness.
After spending a weekend chatting about the possibility of moving in this direction, we took the mini-plunge tonight. Bob purchased our first three Bum Genius 3.0 One-size from Whole Foods and Kaia is snoozing away in one tonight. Assuming the BG's work well for the overnight, we're going to put in an order for a decent stash tomorrow. Although I never saw myself writing this post, I am very excited for this venture!

This post makes me seriously think about giving this a try.
You should definitely look into it! I was really overwhelmed by all the cloth diapering "vocabulary" at first but it is really not so bad. Jilliansdrawers.com has pretty much allll the brands and types, with reviews.
thats awesome! I recommend getting a diaper sprayer for the poo. We sprayed ALL poop diapers before putting them in the laundry. I think it helps with stains.
Woohoo!! Good luck.
